Walter Burley Griffin, The Pyrmont Incinerator, 1935, Image 1991 Prior to Demilition

The Pyrmont Incinerator, designed in 1935 by Walter Burley Griffin and Eric Milton Nicholls, was left in ruins for decades until the 1990's when, against a tide of public support to restore it, it was demolished to make way for apartments. Prior to its demolition I went onto the site with a camera. The concrete façade was decorated with a relief designs,  Sadly another historic building, which could have been repurposed and become a destination within Sydney's landscape, has been lost.   Read more on The Griffin Incinerators http://www.griffinsociety.org/Lives_and_Works/a_incinerators.html
